Mustang II measurement help

I am looking for someone with a 55-59 truck who installed a mustang II front end bagged that lays rocker. I am wondering if the mustang style crossmember clears the ground or if it needs to be modified to lay all the way out. And yes I already know about the other crossmembers out there. I don't need advice on which one to buy. Just want to know if the standard mustang kit will lay out when bagged.

You need to buy a Porterbuilt Dropmember for the 55-59 Chevrolet Trucks.

On a serious note: There is a place out of Lweisville,Texas called "Hales Speed Shop" that has done a few of the 55-59 trucks laid out with the M2 crossmember. I am sure if you got in touch with them, they could help answer some of your questions. Don't have a contact number for ya, but I am sure you know how to Google.

Thanks Nate. I talked to del actually about hales and he said he thinks they cut the crossmember and then add to the top caps. I don't think I'm gonna go that route if that's wha it takes. So now I am measuring to see if a 73-87 rolling chassis will fit. That wa I could just nip alot of little things in the butt all at once. Get the auto trans, v8, power steering, rear axle and then just add a drop member and rear end to it. Not sure if it's possible yet though.

The 55-59 rails are wider in the front than the 73-87 C10.... but the rear is the same outside to outside dimension. I am sure you can make it work by fabbing up some new mounts.

73-87 track width up front is going to be too wide.
I'd rather use a S10 chassis than a C10 chassis.

I thought the s10 swap was more of a 49-54 body style. Or whatever. Because those trucks were a little smaller. I'm going to measure everything this weekend and go from there.

I have a buddy that WAS trying to put a 58-59 on a C10 chassis.
It was going to be ultra low static dropped.
The front track width was too wide.
Not sure what he is doing now.

How about a 88-98 chassis?

thanks for all the info keith. I wonder if the PB narrowed control arms will help at all. the reason I am wanting to choose a c-10 is that I have at my disposal a 73 shortbed with brand new 350 crate and rebuilt trans already.

You can do the narrowed arms and a CPP spindle, and it will fit. Still a touch wider than i would want it.
