Steering column swap.

G'day 60-66 owners. Has anyone ever switched out the complete steering column for a newer one?

What yrs make this an easy swap?

hey balls mcgee.......i'm working on putting a 77 tilt column in my suburban...........it has the ignition on the column...........changed all of the under dash wiring to match the column.............painless wiring................had to fab a new intermediate shaft to connect the column to the steering box................the 77 was about 6" too short................took apart my shaft and bought another at a yard...................took them both apart and made one.............haven't installed the new shaft yet but will one night this week.............also had to put some spacers in the inside where the column attaches to the dash.............the new column's tube was a little bigger in dia. than the stock one...........had to because the brake light switch and the brake and clutch pedal stoppers were on the bracket so i had to use it with the spacers............when i get it finished i'll post some pictures.............later HEMMIT
