Should I buy it..

Thought I'd see what you gents think of a opportunity that has come my way.
I'm a delivery driver and often run across our trucks while out and about.
I have been wanting a loaded Silverado SWB and saw this one. The guy wants 4k.. It has a newish Goodwrench 350 and rebuilt 350 Trans. Inside is near mint condition! A/C blows cold😍..
Original radio works! Not to fond of the aftermarket wheels but he is throwing in the original rallies with caps/rings.
I offered $2500.. He respectfully declined. Said $3800 is what he wants.. It's not online or anything.. Just a sale sign on window.
Has dual exhaust , tow hitch, and shell.. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks Jay

Re: Should I buy it..

If it's what you are looking for, I think $3,800 is OK. It certainly isn't a steal, but you aren't getting robbed either. I think if you keep looking you will find some cheaper, and some more expensive.
$2,500 is a great deal, and a pretty big drop from his $3,800. He may have some wiggle room, but starting at 2/3rd's his asking price may have made him dig his heals in. Go back with $3,300 cash and see what he says.

Re: Should I buy it..

I'd do it if your in a hurry, but if time is on your side you'll likely find one cheaper.

Just not with a new engine, and rebuilt transmission.

So do you want a truck with the big stuff done. Or do you have specific goals in mind with your old build specs.

Re: Should I buy it..

Considering the clearcoat is peeling, I would try to bargain with him a little more. Ive seen plenty of trucks for sale that didnt need paint around that price.

Re: Should I buy it..

i would expect that to go for around 3k in my area, damn near every one of these on craigslist has an almost new engine and transmission (aka degreaser and brush). scrap those wheels and get some money back

Re: Should I buy it..

new engine and rebuilt trans, no dents, A/C blows cold.... $3800 isnt outrageous but $3000 even would be better....show him the cash and I bet he takes it

take some pics of engine, interior, front suspension etc

Re: Should I buy it..

Looks like a driver truck and if you are planing any paint work it's gonna be costly just materials not counting labor. . keep that in mind. good luck looks good there are lots of these trucks out there. you will have to be your own judge.

If your buying clean rust free trucks for 1500. or less, sell me a few. I'll flip and double my money every time.

Cdimedriver- If that truck is clean as it looks, 3500.00 would be a decent price. That all depends on if you can live with the clear coat peeling. Your looking at 3k for a cheap paint job, and a really nice one will be 6k+

Re: Should I buy it..

If your description is accurate, and you like the truck, I would buy it. Try to shave off some more, like get it down between 3000 and 3500...

I would sell the camper top and those wheels, hopefully get a few bucks back. Maybe be all in for a net 3000...

That would seem to be a decent deal to me...

Smile Re: Should I buy it..

Guys, just left from driving it and talking to the ol guy. He's much to proud of the truck to come down anymore than $3800.
Turns out it has some surface rust in door jams, leaky valve covers, the carb probly needs rebuild cause of the hesitation, some play in steering.. Sounds bad but I must say it has the cleanest interior of 1 I have ever driven. And ice cold air and working cruise control. I brought $3200 with me and told him he could keep the wheels but it was a no-go.

Said he would keep it if he didn't get $3800..

Oh we'll, thanks a bunch for your suggestions/thoughts..
The search continues...

Same here. Hell, a rough, 2wd, long bed will bring 1500.

I think the truck is 500-700 bucks high, but you wont find one like it again.

Buy it. For 3800, and tell people you payed 2500 for it. HA!

Re: Should I buy it..

^^^x2....sell the rims and camper and get some of your money back. If it has cold a/c that's a plus in Texas. And a few minor adjustments to the motor and you'll be on the road. Give him a week or two and try it again

Re: Should I buy it..

Ill give him a couple weeks.. But he sure seemed stubborn.
I was of course respectful and didn't belittle the truck. I doubt seriously it would ever sell for that without advertising it on Craig's or online somewhere. He lives in the country and gets no traffic on his road.. Lol
