What all should be disconnected from tranny, pulling motor an tranny together.

Hey guys, in the middle of pulling the motor and tranny on my 87 pickup. What all do I need to make sure to disconnect from the tranny before we start yanking everything out?

Awesome! Thanks for the info! Driveshaft is out, trans cooler lines are off. It's a 700r4 tranny. Totally forgot about the speedo cable though!

Shifter linkage, just remove the cotter pin and then pull out the linkage?

spedo cable are always getting ripped off, kick down cables too. those always seem to be forgotten. pull the yoke out o fthe back of the trans then tape a rubber glove over the end to save your self a big mess. otherwise you tip it up and your torque converter will puke the fluid outs

Drain the trans fluid too or it will spill all over the floor when pulling it out.

The glove trick sounds great. Thanks for the tip! How do I remove the kick down cable?

Draining all the fluids is on tap for tomorrow. Should I go ahead and drain the engine oil too?

Does the kick down cable have to be removed completely?

If you are pulling the engine and trans toghether no need to unhook the detent/thottle valve cable yet. Just so you dont get confused, on the 700 the kickdown cable is called throttle valve as it adjust line pressure in the trans as the throttle opens as well as kickdown.

Thanks. I actually was getting confused there. Lol.

I do however need to remove the cruise bracket and the throttle bracket right? But the wire tv cable can stay hooked up?

You can remove them or you can just remove the cables from the brackets.
