Re: Hedman Exhaust Headers & LMC Truck

i might be wrong but improving exaust flow means more air and fuel in.. so im not sure about fuel economy never tested it others might correct me.as far as increase in hp yeah a little.

I just had a set of elites put on and other than sound I feel no difference. I don't really pay attention to fuel so I couldn't help you there.

got hedmann's on my bb crew, dont think you'll see a mpg increase(you will be blipping the throttle more cause it sounds cool), maybe 10-25hp depending on your set up. did see noise levels go up 50% though

Re: Hedman Exhaust Headers & LMC Truck

LMC almost made the sale, didn't they? (take EVERY claim made with a grain of salt)

10% in fuel economy, that's what 1-1.5 mpg? HP, don't really care, just a number.
Those gains can be made up in the tune after you redo the exhaust...

I do have headers, mainly for the fuel economy, and the manifolds were toast.
Their claims, yes, though like any other advertisement, YMMV.

I do have every gimmick installed on my lawnmower. 1.5 million hp and 65mpg. lol

Re: Hedman Exhaust Headers & LMC Truck

Don't listen to the discussion about fuel economy. The headers is a plus in the HP and the performance capability and on that thought alone, you should upgrade. Now if you want fuel economy on top of that, you can gain, but it also includes a change in driving style.

The theory of better economy from a HP improvement item, is that the engine has to do less work to give that HP. It still takes the same amount of RPMs to make the truck go the same speed, so thus fuel economy doesn't really change. You can change a lot of things to gain, but it takes some serious thinking on what you want to spend your money on. COnsider a Multi-spark ignition, low resistance spark plug wires, better flowing exhaust and a good air cleaner with low resistance and the ultimate change of all, get rid of the factory mechanical fan for electric fans. The gains are there but they will not be in leaps and bounds,
