69 roof marker light pics needed
My guess is this was either a gm acc. Or dealer installed option. My question is would all dealers have installed the same markers or would it depend on what was available in different areas? I could be wrong but if it was a GM option they would all be the same from year to year?
I'm hoping some of you have pics of 1969 trucks with these items. And any add'l info definitely appreciated. Bonus for west coast pics (Fremont trucks) but maybe that's too specific... As always thank you for helping to educate me Nim Posted via Mobile Device

Re: 69 roof marker light pics needed
There were a couple of different styles of roof marker or clearance lights (teardrop, hockey puck and fireman's hat IIRC) that were factory installed either as standard equipment (C30 w/RPO R05 DRW) or RPO UO1 on the SPID. Most of them (69 up) had a special raised pad roof for the lamps. There were also dealer accessory kits for mounting lamps flat on the standard roof. Suburbans did not have the raised pads and used the flat roof mount style as the RPO installation. In addition there were several aftermarket styles that are seen as well. There are a number of threads and the assembly manual has installation information as well.

Re: 69 roof marker light pics needed
In 69-72 the lights that were a factory option required a specific roof panel. The accessory lights sold would be the earlier tear drop with chrome housing type (Yankee77s). '69 was the only year for the cab lights they call hockey puck style, that are flat on top. Then,in '70 (actually, later in '69) they changed to what people call the fireman's hat style that carried through '91 on R/V models. Those are rounded on top
I only have a picture of the '70+ style. The '69 style are the exact same part as the Stepside reverse lights, but molded in amber rather than clear. The '69s mount/interchange with the '70+s

MADSAM 1.....got those pages marked in my 67-72 assembly manual. just wish it gave measurements also like this pic liberated from one of the links above. suburbans are different due to roof profile i'd think.

Re: 69 roof marker light pics needed
Great info.
I think the hockey pucks look super utilitarian but I gravitate towards any truck that has clearance lights. Thanks for the replies and pics. Nim Posted via Mobile Device

Re: 69 roof marker light pics needed
my personal favorite are the fireman's hats on 20s and hockey pucks on 30s. I don't know why... Oh how I WISH i had a raised pad cab...

Re: 69 roof marker light pics needed
thanks cape n tim, but not gonna swap the roof at this point! Whew, that would pretty much suck. Wish I had happened to find one with clearance lights to begin with is probably what I should have said. plan to restore mine, so will keep it like it was hatched. thnks tho.

Re: 69 roof marker light pics needed
Since you really seem to need this validated. Review the measurements for the conventional cab trucks with 92,96 and 106" BBC against your truck and lights to see how they position. If there is a question then try sending Joes Junk a PM asking for a clarification by direct measurement of his factory RPO U01 Suburban pictured above.

Re: 69 roof marker light pics needed
I have installed the 70-ups on these trucks with mounting bosses back before I ever realized the factory used a special roof panel. They fit/seal just fine, like 73-ups,and look good as factory,if not better. It was only because I knew it was a special panel that I've since been a stickler about doing it as the factory did. Just one more thing to set a special truck apart. Icing on the cake! I have an A/C cab from what was once a very nice '69 C/30 I bought to swap on a '72 K/20 Cheyenne Super Custom Camper That I wanted to have all the bells & whistles. It seems silly when you think all you have to do is put the lights on the cab already on the truck. Just want that factory-built look. My '72 K2500 will now get that cab...one day

Re: 69 roof marker light pics needed
This is good information. I'm the second owner of my truck. It's a Fremont truck purchased in Lebanon OR. I'm restoring it but not fixing dents if that makes any sense. This thread is in relation to a yard I found that has five or six of these trucks (67-72) and two 71 k5's. One is white on white. There is one truck with the raised roof markers but it looks like a tree fell on it and one of the limbs can openered the center of the cab. It has the factory 69 grill and the core support is good which is why I stopped to take a look. I was baffled as I had only seen non-raised roof. I'm new tho so that's not saying a whole lot. From now on though it's just another cool detail to know about. My current K20 sure would look tough with them. Of course now I'm eyeballing the k5 since the guy doesn't sell parts only the whole trucks. I might end up with his whole collection! A guy can dream...
