are c10 and k10 cab mounts the same?

just out of curiousity here, are c10s and k10s and k20/c20s all the same cab mounts? and what years all bolt up if so. the threads ive found are people converting their frames to accept a pumpkin. id imagine they are. just curious in the case that i found a k10 swb frame....

Re: are c10 and k10 cab mounts the same?

From memory, the C10 is unique.

All 4 mounting pucks under the cab are the same. Id estimate they are 1" to 1 1/4" tall.

All K-trucks and C20 & up have a shorter frame bracket (compared to the top of framerail height) than the C10. Therefore the rear pucks are approximately 3" tall.

There is also a difference in the core support mounts. 67-8 are different then 69-up.

Yep,the C/10s are all by themselves and shorter. Core support mounts vary from 67/68 to 69-72,but don't vary between 10-30 series

Yes you can swap the cab from a c10 to a k10. The difference is that you would need to get the cab mount bushings for a 4wd versus the cab mount bushings for a 2wd. Hope this helps you.

Agreed, all cabs are the same. The difference is in the frame, buy bushings for the frame.

Yes,but it's best to use one from a 4spd or big block w/high hump floor. since that's required on a K-model. You can graft the area from the old cab or cut it from a junker. That area is always in good condition.

Re: are c10 and k10 cab mounts the same?

Highjacking this thread slightly.

Would it be possible to put a C20 body onto a K20 frame? A 1970 body onto a 70-72 K20 frame.

Just a curiosity I have.

Re: are c10 and k10 cab mounts the same?

Yep. Cabs is cabs. They all mount the same. 4wds have a high transmission hump that is removeable. So do big block 2wds and 4spd 2wds. Those can be fitted to a low hump floor. The outline is stamped into the floor

Re: are c10 and k10 cab mounts the same?

Thanks Special K for the response. I both trust and value your knowledge.

Follow up questions, if I may:

1. Assuming beds can be swapped too?
2. Would the C20 cab on a K20 frame/drivetrain produce any other issues outside the hump (which I was aware of)? For example, steering column, etc.

Re: are c10 and k10 cab mounts the same?

From what I have seen the K series has a different lower core support mount. More like a puck (like the upper) than the cone that the C series uses. The cone style still fits though.

Re: are c10 and k10 cab mounts the same?

Hypothetically could one remove the cab and bed from a K20 and replace with a C20 cab and bed?

Im assuming the K20 front clip would align properly to newly place C20 cab.

And for anyone who reads this, I'm asking because I'm considering buying a K20, but putting my C20 cab/bed on.

Re: are c10 and k10 cab mounts the same?

The only sheet metal difference is high hump low hump in the cab gm even gives you the nice line to cut out a lot hump for installing high hump pan

Many people have went this route i did it to my 68 c10 to k10 like 30 years ago there is a guy in the build threads look up his c10 to k20 thread

The cab rubber mounts are different from c10 to c20 c20 are the same cab mounts as the k trucks

67 68 trucks had a different rad support mount then the newer frames which you can cut down to fit

Re: are c10 and k10 cab mounts the same?

So could I in confidence do all the body work on my C20 before finding a K20 donor chassis without concerns of having to rip into sheet metal again later in the process?

Please forgive that run-on sentence.
