Re: Radio not working right.

Do you have both switched 12v and constant 12v connected? One turns the radio on when the key it on, the other saves your radio presets and clock.

If you don't have the 12v constant hooked up to a constant 12v source, your clock and radio presets will not stay set when the truck is turned off. Cig lighter is often a 12v constant.

If I am understanding the problem correctly.

Re: Radio not working right.

Depending on what year truck, you could tap a hot side of a fuse for a quick 12v constant, unless you know one to tap.

I have reverse my 12v connections before.

Re: Radio not working right.

I have a 72 short bed, Do you have any pics of the fuse box on your truck so I could see how you wired it?

Re: Radio not working right.

Mine isn't wired to the fuse box, but it's an easy option if you need a source. Just use a test light with the key off and check each fuse to see what one has power with the key off. Then get a fuse tap from the local auto parts store and tap the hot side, or tap the wire. Depending on how clean you want to run it.

Re: Radio not working right.

In my '92 it is wired off the factory radio harness, in my '66 I am using an all new harness with accessory connections for it (but my '66 doesn't use a traditional deck, it is running a tablet).

Re: Radio not working right.

the voltage drop from starting the truck will cause the radio off and on again too
