67 tachometer transmitter

Does anybody know how to hook a stock tach up to the tachometer transmitter? it says its for a 6 cylinder but the truck has a v8 in it now, is there a way to still use it? From what I can see there is a brown red and 2 black wires running out of the tach.

Re: 67 tachometer transmitter

That looks like an early Sun electric tach.head to me. Might have something laying around on the hookup but not easy or handy to find. IIRC they used an application specific transistor box under hood that sent a signal to the head. So you would need to find a V8 box or someone to modify yours to work properly, otherwise it will read about 33% off.

Re: 67 tachometer transmitter

Ok thanks, there are tachs that have the same look as the one that's in the truck but just hook up to the distributor, I might get one of those but I might still keep the transmitter in there because of the stock look. Anyways there may be a v6 back in it one day.
