Good riding, inexpensive shocks???
Is there such a thing as a good riding, inexpensive shock absorber for our trucks???
Mine is a 70 C20 with 6500 lb axles. It has 71-72 disc setup with new big block springs and A/C. The tires are radial but I don't remember brand or size and they are on stock wheels. Any suggestions? I want to replace all corners.

I have had good results with Monroe Sensa Trac shocks. Good ride and pretty durable. Rock Auto has the fronts for 15.04. This says without HD suspension. You may need more shock than these for your 6500# axles.

If you plan on keeping the truck for a while, get some that have a warranty. AutoZone gives me a new set for free every few years.

Re: Good riding, inexpensive shocks???
I think the ones I have on the front now are the OLD Gabriel adjustable shocks. They are white and you compress them all the way to click soft medium or firm valving. The shocks still work with no leaks but the bushings are gone I mean rotted.
Would it be worth putting poly bushings in 20 year old shocks??? I am on the "no" side of this.

Consider KYB Gas-A-Justs. These are non-adjustable high-pressure gas shocks that are somewhat firmer than OEM, especially when new. I've put them on two vehicles and they have lasted me a long time.

Re: Good riding, inexpensive shocks???
Thanks all for the input..... This is what I have now. As I stated though they are 20 years old.
I think I am going to go with Gabriel ProGard and just replace every few years as suggested. I need to have something with a softer ride. I think I am getting old.
