Redo the dash

Hey guy's been working on my dash in the 71 and wanted some opinion's on how to finish it up. I rewired all the new gauges and made a pigtail for them into the old wiring plug in the back of the dash. I re did the bright light and added the brake warning light also. I also put some spacers on the bottom of the dash to tilt the dash up for better viewing while driving about a 1/2". What I need to know is what to use for a spacer between the bezal and the metal dash itself. I had thought about making a clay mold then fiberglassing it. I just don't know. Maybe some kind of sheet metal.
I cut some stuff today to make a cover under the dash back to the fire wall so you want see much of the under side when you look inside the truck. My upholstery guy is going to cover it for me but I need something to go between the dash and bezal. Any body seen anything are has done this before LMK please.

what does it look like from the drivers seat, might play around with a metal fill plate if you can cut it out not sure what i would try to fill the gap..

Duraglass would work well for that fix.Its very strong but sands easily and takes primer/paint well.Its thick consistency is needed there,will take 2-3 applications though to get it just right.Maybe mask the bezel or even better put some waxed paper under it prior to screwing to dash then fill void,material wont bond to wax paper well.

Just did a google of it. This looks do able for me. I've never done any fiberglass work but this looks like it can be done pretty easy. Thanks.

Duraglass is similiar to bondo meaning its polyester but much stronger.Mix small amounts and mix thourghly.I used it when I smoothed my firewall.I am not a welder or metal worker.

In this picture you can see I have cutout the dash some for the old dash that had the speed warning in it. Right now it's tilted as far up as it can go. Do you think I need to cut around the lights and wiper switches to let it tilt some more. If I cut them I can bend the metal up so I could tilt the dash as much as I wanted.

Here is a shot of it with the lights on. After sitting last night and thinking about the Head lights and wiper switches, I think it would be best to leave as is instead of bending them up. If I did they would be pointing up out of the dash.
