Strengthening a 1964 C-10 Frame for drag racing / street use

Hi All.

Well I'm getting near the end of my project and installed a big block that should make near 600ft. lbs of torque (est.)

My question goes out to a lot of the Fabricators and real life Engineers that dabble in suspension creation or modifying. What is the best way for me to keep my stock frame but re-enforce it so it doesn't get totally twisted? I have a manual transmission and I'd still like to be able to remove it easily. I have the cab off now so I figure now is the time.

Does boxing the frame do much to help?

Oh, also, this truck will still see street time, not just racing.

Alex

I am looking to make a DD pro-tourer of sorts out of my C20, and I read a few places where fully welding the cross members to the frame will help alot.

Also there is a member on here who has a square body where he did the welding, and added more cross members to further strengthen the frame. Rather he cut out some stock ones, and welded them into his frame. Or made his own from steel I do not know, but this would be my choice so I can work around obstacles easier.

Ya, I thought welding the cross members might help as well. I was wondering is gussets might help as well.

If your going to drag race look up the rules before you do anything.
