Fender Flare Removal
I'm going to go pull a set of fender flares off of a salvaged pickup for my 04 tonight. What tools do I need to bring? I thought I'd check before I went out in the snow without anything!

Re: Fender Flare Removal
I did a little research. Is it just double sided tape holding them? Or is there some clips or bolts also?

Re: Fender Flare Removal
I think there is some small, plastic clips as well. Bring a small flathead screwdriver too. They are secured around the inner lip of the flare and attach to the sheetmetal.
It may look like one of these:

Re: Fender Flare Removal
Those clips can be a pain in the ass. Bring a pair of pliers and small vice grips as well. If you can't get a couple of them to pull out, break the head off then push the pin through the back. Once all the clips are out, get one corner started then gently pull, the two sided tape is around the outer edge against the body, it should come off with a little gentle persuasion. My truck has been up north a bunch of times, I've taken mine off a few times to clean under them.
The clips are cheap, no biggie if you break them, you can find them on ebay, or you can simply buy the one time use cheap push in clips from the chain parts stores.

Re: Fender Flare Removal
Your local body shop supply store will have the clips and double side tape to install them. Just take it easy pulling the flare off. Sometimes a knife or other cutting tool works nice to cut the tape instead of relying on pulling it all off. Just get it started and then cut the rest of the tape.
