Re: putting these rims on my truck

Install 6-lug aftermarket rotors up front and 6-lug axles in your current rearend housing.
(or buy a 4x4 rearend)

Re: putting these rims on my truck

I consider those scarey, at a minimum.
Normal adapters take some maintenance to keep them safe.
These are 2-piece adapters that are held together with bolts.

I say find some different wheels if you have to run adapters from 5-lug to 6-lug.

Re: putting these rims on my truck

Why would you use some crummy adapter when a 6 lug rotor is available?

Re: putting these rims on my truck

67-70 are 6 lug but they are drum brakes. 72 and some 71's had disk brakes but they were 5 lug.

Balljoints and tierod ends are different. Swap the controll arms and tierods, then they can work. Several companies have disc brake kits that keep the 6 lug pattern. Then swap a 4x4 rear and you have 6 lug rear.

Re: putting these rims on my truck

All this commotion.... Rotors with 6 lugs are available, and they are cheap. Do what Lolife99 said in the beginning, get conversion rotors & 4x4 axles and go nuts. Read the link he posted. Those rotors are intended for guys with Action Line trucks that do a disk brake conversion using our Rounded Line spindles. The key information there is these rotors work on our spindles, and have 6 studs. As an added bonus, they are relatively inexpensive, about the same as a 5 stud rotor at your local parts house.

Re: putting these rims on my truck

I have a 67 C10 and put my 2011 stock Tahoe wheels on as temps...
They are 6-lug and I had to go with 1.5" & 2" spacers to make these work.

Re: putting these rims on my truck

The biggest problem with the rotor and axles swap method is the fact that the backspacing of modern wheels is too much for older vehicles. Great if you like the super sucked/tucked in wheel look, but bad if you want the wheels to come out to the fender lip like they should.

Another issue is that older 6 lug wheel had a larger bore to accommodate locking front wheel hubs. With those hubs being gone with last of the 73-87 trucks, every 6 lug wheel since then has a small center hole which means the wheel will need machining if an older axle or rotor is used.

If you must run a newer wheel, a QUALITY adapter is your friend because it takes care of the bolt pattern AND backspacing issues at the same time.

It's funny that so many people with older trucks want to convert to 6 lug to run these new wheels, while there have been some guys with newer trucks that have converted to 5 lug so they can run a true 5 spoke muscle car type wheel. Seems like a case of wanting most what is furthest from your reach.

that what my Girlfreaind say'd about me. it dont matter what it came with I wanna change just for the sake of change'n it.

people are alway's negative about adaptor's, they dont realize most Dually's have adaptor's on the front from the factory.
adaptor's same as wheel's should checked periodicly.
