Cst Buckets-fs

Another set of CST buckets. I know no one on here can ever buy them because I can't get them to you...but I will keep showing you, as I get them. Maybe someone out West will figure out how to get them picked up. $350 for this set. I now have about 4 sets of these and 4 sets of the 69-72 style. New covers in original and custom styles, also.

ANOTHER SET

...look familiar? wrong! They are Dodge...same seats/different upholstery and different floor mount. Pretty cool, huh? Just for info---not for sale.
The mounts shown in the pic are not the Dodge mounts. Dodge used tubular, but different from GM. These are something I am trying to modify for the GM trucks.

SEAT FETISH!

I have got to get out of this "seat fetish"! I sold the 98 leather buckets, so that helps...but now I am working on a full bench, with the dlx foam, that will tilt forward and lock back. We need these when the tank is moved out of the cab, so we can get to the area behind the seat. I actually have a proto moched up, welded together and bolted in the stock holes in the floor. The new cover for it should be done soon. I just can't get enough time to play with all these toys...they are all half done!

I don't know why you can't ship them unless UPS has become more strict in the past year or so. I've shipped 2 sets of the 67-68 style UPS and 2 sets of the 69-72 style as well. Jose also sent me a set of 67 Suburban buckets (same as truck ones) from Oregon just last year.

Could the problem be the fact that it's a pain in the butt to package them? I'm sympathetic to that as box locating and fabicating takes time and effort. Plus UPS shipping will add $100 to cost for x-country ride.

Anyway if you really want to ship, separate the components and box them separately. 3 boxes for 67/68, 1 box for frame, one box for seat, one box for seat and console and hardware (packs neatly in console.

For 69-72, 2 boxes, one for seat and hardware/brackets, one for
other seat and console.

Add $50-$70 to the price to pay you for the hour or so it takes to get them all ready to go. It up's the price but if someone really wants them it gives them a viable option (We're talking $150+ for x-country ride $100 UPS, $50 for handling). Much better than show pics and saying you can't ship IMO. However, I do understand if you don't want to bother. It's one reason I stopped selling parts, too little time as it was and packaging stuff was eating far too much of what I had.

CPNE

Jeff,
You explained that very clearly. It just takes too much time from the regular business to chase down boxing, packing & delivering...and after you figure in the costs, the guys don't really want to pay for it. One guy wanted a bed so bad, he found a trucker in the area and paid him to pick it up...another guy had a regional shipper come pick up an engine and take it away to be crated & shipped. I only lifted these! No pallets, crates, boxes, etc. I wish I could help more on these big items, but it is not possible for me to ship this big stuff.

Absolutely agreed Frank. Just wanted to point out it could be done with enough "$incentive$" for the seller.

I wonder what a mail boxes etc (now UPS) would charge for the service?

I wont ship big and awkward parts either, its just a pain in the a$$.It doesnt make parts hard to sell theres always plenty of people in the area your in usually to buy them also. Its much easier to let them sit,and sell locally eventually.I have a extra 67-8 CST bucket seat frame if anyone wants to buy and pick it up,or has a set of dodge buckets they need brackets for.

OK-I'll Ship Them!!!

OK, Like Jeff/CPNE said, it can be done. I checked with one of our bigger Mailboxes and he is set up to pack & ship larger items.
Here is how I will do it. If you provide your MC/Visa # (by phone for security), I will first charge the price of the seats=$350. Then I will dismantle & deliver them to the shipper for FREE! When they are ready to ship, I will do a second charge to your card for the actual packing & shipping costs. I will even pass on my commercial discount and give you a copy of the invoice. As you can see from Jeff's experience, it should be $150-$200 to pack & ship.
I will not waste time measuring, weighing and estimating costs to your individual locations. Sorry for the attitude, but I have been burned too many times by "Pretenders" that want all of the info computed and then don't buy...or the actual costs are higher & I get stuck again. No screwing around with checks, MO or any other payment that has to be mailed...too many of them just never come! I will do my part, if you do yours. Ready?
Hambone you have first call. Do you want them? (Email me-24hrs).
67c20 you are next.
Jose you were in there, but as I said, I don't want to trade. Money is so much easier to store than more seats.
Any serious takers?

Okay if you guys are serious, Frank is too! This is a fair deal because it's a big pain to go through all this hassle. If you really want them, step up and pay the man, because he won't be doing this again if he's burned and I don't blame him. And I won't be prodding Frank again either. I think my price for Frank's parts just went up 20% on this already!

Frank, you should be commended for giving this a try.

Geez, it's not that big a deal to ship these seats. I've shipped 4 sets of the 67/68 buckets to various parts of the country, and you should do it in 2 boxes.
First off, go to a large bodyshop close to where you live and get some big boxes. They'll have plenty of large, heavy duty boxes used to ship quarter panels and bed-sides, and the just throw them away.
Put the seat frame in one box and wedge the console (with all the hardware inside) in with it. Then take the seatsand stack them end to end and put in another box. The boxes will weigh about 50lbs and 75lbs respectively.
I've shipped them by UPS and by Greyhound. Greyhounds the cheapest.
In fact I just bought a very nice set from a board member in Kentucky. Seats $250, Greyhound shipping $97.25 from KY to TX, plus a couple of bucks to insure everything, Total $360.

SC, that's fine for the person doing a one-off sale, but when running a business, it's all about resources and how to allocate them to maximize ROI. Chasing down boxes and packaging is time consuming (been there, done that). I fully understand Frank's rational, and think the deal is fair. I'm sure Frank can make more money dealing with local business than he'd make selling these seats if you factor in the time "overhead".

There is always a better deal somewhere at some point but you have to get lucky to happen into them. It's a gamble, take the offer in hand or wait and hope to get lucky, depends on how bad you want them I guess.

I'm sorry now I interfered in this thread, my point was they can be shipped via standard carriers if the incentive is there.

Jeff, I think everyone is glad you got involved. You opened my eyes to the Mailbox thing...I thought the seats were just too big to get someone else to pack reasonably. Looks like one or two guys that really want/need these seats will get them now. I have packed them before, too, that's why I wouldn't do it again.
I went to the body shops, furniture stores and even the cardboard recyle bins behind the mall. That's where I met and introduced myself "formally" to the police officer. Had to convince him that I was not illegally dumping into their bins. He said go inside to the store and get permission first. You know how that went: go in the mall to the store, talk to a clerk, wait for them to get the manager, who looks at you like you are a crook and says, "We have someone who picks up our cardboard. The bin is locked and we don't give it out to the public". That was fun!
I think a couple of these guys are going to thank you, Jeff, for helping out...and I am willing to put in a reasonable effort to help the guys on this board, too. We will all let everyone know how this goes and exactly what it costs. Thanks, again. Frank

If your business is selling parts, I think, and I may be wrong here, but I think you should have sources for packing materials and access to shipping carriers/rates if you're listing items for sale on a nationwide message board. I mean, if that's your business, treat it like one.
People are obviously willing to pay to have these hard to find items shipped to them, so figure out your costs plus mark-up and shipping and price things accordingly.
My point was that it's not that big a deal to ship the seats. If you have to charge more and someone's willing to pay that extra, it's not that big a deal.

SC, I think that's the conclusion we've all come to. Thay can be shipped but it ain't cheap.

I personally want to thank CPNE and PICKMUP. For months i have been looking at things for sale and on all the big items everyone says will not ship. I work with a guy that everytime i say i found i am going to buy he says why not look at the junkyards. Well personally i do not really have time to call and drive to every junkyard in SoCal and hope i get some clown that actually knows what i am asking for. Let alone taking the time to drive there and find out he was completly wrong. I have in the past have had great success on buying items from people here on the board and i can honestly say if i have to buy from the board or deal with the minimum wage earning guy at Kragen i prefer the board. I just wish more people would see this and how things can be shipped. There is alot of resources here and that i am thankful. Besides a set of the 40/20/40 would look nice in my someday gonna be done truck. Again thanks
