ignition switch

i have a 71 and the ignition lock and tumbler i put a new one in today. well its still doing the same thing. whats its doing is if i turn it to the on postion it wont stay it as soon as i let go of it it snaps back to off postion. is this normal?

The only position it should snap back in is the start position. Otherwise your switch is bad.

I have to agree, it sucks but sometimes especially with our old dogs, the replacement parts and repops are crap right out of the box.

I agree, I purchased a new ignition for my avatar truck and still have a key off
Draw through it. It never felt correct,When I can I'll get another.

cause i replaced the lock cylinder the one with the keys in it

the keyed tumbler is just a tumbler. It doesnt have a spring back build in it.....the spring back should be in your switch itself. Remove the lock cylinder again and reinstall it. It sounds like it is not in correctly. I had to replace the switch in my 68 camaro for another reason, and knowing how much fun it is getting the cylinder seated correctly.
