seat question

hi guys i have a question about a 1999 chev tahoe and the passenger seat wont latch its just slides back and forth on the rail and the the back part of the seat where it flips forward to allough people to get in the back seat if anybody has any ideas in would appreciate thank you so much

Sounds like a spring came off or broke. The lever could be rusty/dirty and stuck also.
This is not the same seat but should be similar. Springs hold the lever hooked in the tracks so it doesn't slide.

hey thank you for the reply i had checked the spring everything is intact someone said something about a cable running up to the seat to the latch mechanism on the fold down back part of the seat

Idk about the cable. My only idea was to check the springs.

So if someone mentioned checking the cable have you done that? You might pull the seat out, flip it over and check through all the mechanics of it.
