Where are you guys putting your speakers?
I like my music and I like it loud. Besides cutting holes in the doors where are you guys putting your speakers? Pics would be awesome.

Re: Where are you guys putting your speakers?
I had no head liner and I tried to make a board that went across the top directly above my head. I put an aftermarket radio and 4 speakers up there. It was loud and close to my head so I could hear even driving on the highway

Re: Where are you guys putting your speakers?
take out the stock mono speaker in the dash, put in two 4" speakers. I also did two 6.5" speakers and the amp under my bench seat, but I'm not super familiar with the burb layout seat-wise. Two 6x9s under the seat would work awesome as well to give you decent bass without maneuvering a sub in there. Mine sounds good to me without subs, but I may do two JL 6" subs anyway. Since you have the room though you could make a box in the rear for a good sized pair. Not hard to do at all. If you have the $$$ you could even go with the thin JL sub. 13.5" but hits harder than most setups I've heard.

Re: Where are you guys putting your speakers?
Mine currently has the speakers in the doors, and speakers through the rear side panels, in front of the 3rd seat. The PO's kids punched the domes of the speakers in
I may leave the door speakers, but move the rears to under the 2nd row when it comes time to redo the stereo system

Re: Where are you guys putting your speakers?
I put two Pioner 6.5s in the kick panels and two 8in kicker subs with a 4 channel kicker amp under my stock bench seat. Took a lot of work but it was worth it. It sounds good and its loud. I can hear music just fine over my 3in flomaster 40s dumped.

Re: Where are you guys putting your speakers?
I don't have any currently. My door speakers are just that. I'll snap one of the current setup (rear panels) if you want.

Re: Where are you guys putting your speakers?
I'll see if I can get some for you. I know I have some of the dash speakers.

Re: Where are you guys putting your speakers?
I have a idea of how I want to do it but nothing is done at this point. I want to run 2 4" in the dash, A box under the 2nd and 3rd seats with a 10" and 2 6x9" mount the amp under the front seat and run it from a Ipod. But till I get a bit more time to check things over its just a idea. All talk and no action has me rolling with no tunes!

Re: Where are you guys putting your speakers?
This is what I did on my pickup, so really only the dash mod is 'burban related, but though I'd tell the complete setup.
I went the extra mile on speakers, I pulled the windshield out and cut holes as far outboard on the dash top as I could for 3 1/2" speakers. There was just enough room for the magnets above the cluster and glove box for clearance. Though the problem I had back them was finding 3 1/2" speakers with nice covers. I did find them but the choices were few. And I removed the gas tank and put 6X9's in the corners with custom speaker mounts. And the sound is very nice, those small speakers bounce the sound off of the glass and gives very nice treble, and mid, and the 6X9's give nice mid, and base. Glad I did it, it always gets attention from other 67-72 guys. I have considered putting tweeters in the original center speaker location but it hasn't been a priority. |
