Sound deadening and carpeting
I saw a thread on here for budget sound deadening material off Ebay, anyone remember what brand it was?
Where are you getting your carpets from for the swb '84 C-10s? Once I put the Por-15 on, I wan to button it up. |

Re: Sound deadening and carpeting
There was a member here selling it but he got forced out of business by the corporate giants of sound deadening. I've heard lizard skin is good if your willing to do a spray/roll on deadener.
I used a form of peel n stick with a couple scraps of Dynamat I got for free. Add in a little carpet padding and a new carpet and the truck is SOOOOO much quiter (66, but the idea's the same)

Re: Sound deadening and carpeting
If you want really quiet go with whatever brand OD peel and stick you want, followed by closed cell foam, then mass loaded vinyl. That's what the luxury cars have

Re: Sound deadening and carpeting
try www.duboisfabrics.com Its a place called DLT upholstery. They are local to me and a number of the local pro shops use them, and I found them very useful for auto interior. If the catalog doesn't show it, call they KNOW a thing or two about custom auto interior.

Re: Sound deadening and carpeting
for the mlv: Ebay has it and amazon too. The shipping can be expensive. Get the reinforced mlv so It doesn't shred as you install it. Home depot has the CCL.

Re: Sound deadening and carpeting
I used Fatmat and then a layer of reflectix for insulation. Much quieter and the reflectix does not "pop" like most people say, nor can you hear it crinkle through the carpet. Awesome difference for ~$100 total

Re: Sound deadening and carpeting
I used reflectix in mine, it was like night and day as far as insulation goes, and it was cheap.

Re: Sound deadening and carpeting
1 roll of relflectix and 50 sq ft of fatmat. I only bought 25 ft and I wish I bought more. Supposedly you don't need 100% coverage on the surfaces to get the sound down, but I think it would be nicer anyway. Do 100 sq ft and double layer it if you have the money. btw this is just plain fatmat, but I've heard their rattletrap stuff is even nicer. This stuff alone worked awesome for me.
I used gorilla tape to keep down the reflectix. Not beautiful, but definitely practical.
