Instrument panel light sockets - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I know there was a recent thread about where to get these, but I can't find it. I found this on the shelf at NAPA, right size with pig tail. It is plastic with clips so it is not original but works just as good. Takes 53 or 57 lamp. I priced those last week and refused to pay $5 for a packet of two. I found some on ebay, 10 lamps for a little over $5 including shipping. Link:

Just what I was looking for! I hope the ones I purchased Rock Auto work because they don't look like this. They might just take a different bulb.

I ended up finding them at NAPA too. After the NAPA guy went through his book, we were able to match some up. I paid the $5 for two and thought that was a deal. Although, the NAPA guy earned my $5 and then some for his effort. Thanks for sharing. You did get a deal!!

The ones I purchased from Rock auto didn't work. I called Napa with the part number OrrieG put up but they didn't have any. He then said do you have the socket still? And I said yes because my wires just broke at the button. He brought these out and they worked perfect in my factory socket. Just popped the broken button out and slid the new button and wire thru. Hope this helps someone else as much as it did me.

I used the original sockets and bought just the contacts and soldered new gray wire into them.

You can also do this locally. I also used the original sockets. Then went to Ace and purchased new small brass like rivets that I was able to crimp on new wires. Cost was like a buck fifty.

Installed the socket in the TF instrument panel and it fit fine. I used 57 lamps, figure you can alway dim them down but can't add wattage!
