Looking to buy a '72
I'm looking for a very clean '69 thru '72 Blazer to buy for my wife. We're not wanting another project, as we have two of those in the works right now. Just a well restored, or all original daily driver.
We found the one listed below last night and thought that it looks pretty good for the money. Could you guys take a look at it and tell me what you think? Are there any warning signs here? http://www.mautofied.com/auto-classi...ing/100557160/ |

Re: Looking to buy a '72
Well for $14,000 I would at least like to see clean rocker panels. The way those look is just the tip of the iceburg. I spent a year and a half looking at blazers before i found the right one in Washington state. Being that your from Idaho, You should be able to find a cleaner rig in your state, Take your time and find as rustfree body as you can, body work gets expensive real quick. My 2 cents, Mike.

Might be worth the money. Rockers are going to have some rust on an original truck. I would surely invest in a plane ticket before I bought it though.

Re: Looking to buy a '72
Thanks guys. I did not pick out the rust from the photos. That isn't acceptable for our needs.
We've also considered these three: LINK1: http://www.autotraderclassics.com/cl...sationId=12971 LINK2: http://www.autotraderclassics.com/cl...sationId=12971 LINK3: http://www.autotraderclassics.com/fi...sationId=12971 |

Re: Looking to buy a '72
Ive seen the turquoise one in person, I almost bought it for my daughter. Its not too bad, has little rust, but the paint job is terrible. Lots of runs and hastily applied. Also, its a 69 which means it has drum brakes on the front axle. The top needs alot of work also. It wouldnt be too bad a buy if you intended to repaint and do a little work to it.

I like the first one...first year, and lots of options. They all seem pretty pricy though.

Re: Looking to buy a '72
My thought on the price is that we either get as nice of a '69 thru '72 as possible, or we go out looking for something that is brand new or right close to it.
I hate new cars. |

Re: Looking to buy a '72
No one has commented on this Blazer:
http://www.autoboing.com/master_deta...ory_id=1495258 Brand new 383, brand new transmission, the original engine and tranny that was pulled out of it ships with the truck, all brand new everything... completely finished show truck ready to roll. I could go get the wife a brand new Tahoe, or I could get this. Tahoe hemorrhages cash value every day, every mile. This doesn't. Wife loves it, and drives a round trip of 4 miles to work and back per day. Respond. |

Well, if you're willing to pay $14k for a old first gen Blazer, you could probably find one with a decent body for half that and spend the remainder on making it really nice. Then you'll really know the condition of your Blazer and what you're getting for your money.

Re: Looking to buy a '72
With a $32,000 dollar price tag. Wow, it better be perfect. That being said I guess it all about what you are looking for. You mentioned it will be your wife's daily driver. You have to decide if that is what she would like to drive. It's not going to drive or perform like a new SUV. It's going to ride like a 40 year old truck. Reliability and maintenance is also an issue. Again, 40 year old technology.

Re: Looking to buy a '72
My daily is a '65. Sitting next to it is a '50.
We don't have kids. $32K is cheaper than a Tahoe. That truck has 500 miles on it. |

I don't think I've ever seen a blazer sell for over $25,000 unless it was some idiot with more money than brains at an auction or something very custom, so $32,900 seems high to me, but it does look like a nice blazer. |

Re: Looking to buy a '72
I'm looking into appraisers around the Dallas area to go and give a full break down on the rig. High book on it is 27. I wouldn't pay much more than that, if at all.

I just bought this one:
Now I have to ship it, plus the original engine and tranny from Dallas to Southern Idaho. |
