Cheap grill clean-up...

Hey Guys,

I've been meaning to post a few pics of what I have been tinkering with. My '72 has some great patina, but the original grill was looking a little 'plain' (look at the first pic). But it really doesn't take much to totally change the look.

As much as I like the '71-72 grill inserts, I like them even better painted black. I just did a rattle can paint job on the grill insert and I'll see how that holds up.

I've always liked the look of chrome headlight covers...and a $11 ebay purchase later, I have a pair of covers.

Lastly, I really liked the look of my original painted front bumper...but I think that it had gotten bent up at some point. And it was looking a little rough, so I picked up a pretty nice, driver quality, chrome bumper right here on the want ads.

I have to admit, I was really surprised how much the chrome bumper cleaned up the front...looks like a new truck! Well, no, not a "new" truck...it looks like a different, even cooler truck!

Let me know what you think!

Chris

I've always liked the 71-72 grille painted black, that looks sharp

I was totally digging that "well used" front bumper though

Re: Cheap grill clean-up...

Thanks Guys,

I can't believe how much better the chrome bumper looks.

The paint for the grill was just like a Rustoleum matte black...I figure I'll see how well that holds up. And so far, it seems fine.

That black grill really sets it off. We use Krylon Fusion on plastic parts, works wonders. Thanks, Fred

Re: Cheap grill clean-up...

I am not a fan of the 71-72 grills, but I really like the change you were able to achieve fairly easy.

Good job!
