Bed height Issue

I am in the process of trying to make all the sheet metal on my truck fit right. Took a while to get all the front sheet metal right - thought the battle was over, until I set the bed back on the truck. The bed sits about 3/4 inch higher than it should, and this is with NO spacers of any kind. I do have about 3/4 inch between the frame and bed where the frame arches for the rear end - but it is sitting flush on the mounts. Any suggestions on how to correct this?

Re: Bed height Issue

Assume you used a new cab mount kit. Did you reuse the thick washers you took off with the original set? The new sets do not come with the thick washers that originally came on these trucks. Another thought, you didn't over torque the cab mounts compressing the cushions to much?

To add what Lee said, also consider when you change cab mounts, the core support mounts will also need replaced or shimmed to match. If not, you may have door and hood alignment issues.

Remember the bed is fixed mounted with no rubber and the only thing that changes it is frame twist.

Re: Bed height Issue

The order of mounting should be the bed and cab, and then the front sheet metal. That way you don't have an issue with the bed being too high.

Re: Bed height Issue

Thanks for the input. I didnt use the old washers - so Im sure thats part of it. I also did the cab, then the front sheet metal, and now the bed - so Im sure that didnt help either. I think I will start with finding those thick washers and see if that fixes the issue. Thanks for the input!!
