Front clip Question - Is this out of a 1977 Impalla?

Had a shop do a front end alignment on the 56. It had a bad center link. He had to take the old one down to the parts store and finally found a match for one that came out of a 1977 Impala. I will attach my previous post that has pictures of the actual frontend.

Could this front end truly be out of a 1977 Impala?

What kind of frame is this , an "GM A body" ?

Are these a good fit for these trucks?

I can't answer the question definitively but I would think a '77 Impalaclip would be way too wide fora TF truck. They were still land yachts in those days. But I'd imagine a sub component like a center link could have been a part several vehicles had in common.

Re: Front clip Question - Is this out of a 1977 Impalla?

77 impala was a full frame car. Unless they cut the back half of the frame off, maybe it could have been used, but they were a wide boat.

Impala/caprice is a "B" body. Malibus, regals,montes and such are "G" bodys

Is there anyway of identifying this clip for sure by some type of part identification?

I've looked at the pictures, but its hard to see. First off, what is this in? I see 56, but 56 what? Is it full frame? I have about 10 caprice/impala cars. If we can find some markings maybe i can point you in a direction.

A lot of the A body and Camaro suspension parts are the same. As others have said, the 77 impala is pretty wide. I just put a spindle off a camaro on my 77 El Camino. measure the traclk width. Camaro would be 60"-61" and a body would be around 64".

I just looked up the impala centerlink and it is not the same as the camaro or Elcamino (a body)....now that I think of it....an impala would be a b body platform....

Re: Front clip Question - Is this out of a 1977 Impalla?

The 77 Impala was the first year of the smaller Impalas and Caprices and the tread width is only .2 wider than a 77 Camaro.

The 77 Impalas with the standard suspension had the 5 on 4-3/4 bolt pattern with 7/16 lug bolts while the ones with heavy duty suspension such as cop cars had the 5 on 5 bolt pattern with 1/2 inch lug bolts. Either is pretty good suspension and shouldn't be a reason for worry under the truck as long as it was installed correctly.

77 C 30 dualie, 454, 4 speed with a 10 foot flatbed and hoist. It does the heavy work and hauls the projects around.

Mr48chev, are you saying that it could be a 1977 Impala clip? It does have the 5 on 5 bolt pattern

Re: Front clip Question - Is this out of a 1977 Impalla?

5 on five would be GM big car and from the looks of things I'd say 77 to late 80's Impala. The Nova/Camaro/Firebird and Chevelle front ends only came with 5 on 4-3/4 bolt pattern

five on five bolt pattern came with the bigger brake rotors and a bigger front sway bar most of the time.

A lot of the GM front end parts interchange so you won't have trouble getting parts.

Re: Front clip Question - Is this out of a 1977 Impalla?

I think they go from 77-88, right?

That is considered a "G" body car, right?

I would have though a frontend from these cars would be to wide, guess not.
