C-notch?
I have a 72 swb step with leaf spring rear suspension and I was thinking of lowering the rear with a flip kit. Will I have to or need to c-notch the frame? I really don't want to cut on the truck since it has been in my family since new. Thanks for any help.

Re: C-notch?
You will need the c-notch with a flip kit.

Re: C-notch?
Ok thanks. I was afraid of that. Guess I'll buy the lowered leafs and shackles then. Can anybody give me any feedback on the ride quality of the lowered leafs. The truck will only be used for driving around not hauling anything. Thanks.

Re: C-notch?
How much do you plan on lowering it?
If you put the rearend's axle tube in the same location with lowered leafs and shackles,... you will still need the notch. Adding a c-notch is no big deal. Relocating the rear shocks is a bigger issue. I've never hear much feedback on what the leaf spring guys do to "stand up" the rear shocks,... so they still work. Shorter rear shocks are a must,... but shock angles will have to be changed also.

Re: C-notch?
I was looking on the brothers website and they have I believe 4 or 5 inch drop leaf or the mono leaf. I was under the assumption they were direct bolt ons. I would like a 3/5 drop. Nothing major. I think shackles will only get me 2 inches. Any ideas or input is appreciated. Thanks again.

Re: C-notch?
I was wondering if anybody has any experience with the drop leafs or the mono leaf. When reading up on these it says they mount in stock location, which would be leafs on top of axle, if so then a c-notch wouldn't work because the leaf would prevent the axle from traveling into the notch. Is this correct or am I missing something? I know somebody out there has to have a lowered truck with leafs. If so what did u do to lower the rear? Thanks.

Re: C-notch?
The leaf spring is not under the frame,... it mounts to the side.
So the axle tube will still make contact with the frame if you go low enough. Look at this ECE picture. Drop leafs on the left. Drop coils on the right. Same drop. Drop leaf springs just get the leaf spring closer to the bed floor.
