Smoothing blazer roof for paint

Has anyone here smoothed their fiberglass roof to paint it glossy? Pictures. Did you think it was worth it and any tips on how to do it with minimum work. Also what do you think on the smoothed shell painted to match body color, of course this is not a stock resto.

That's what is being done to mine now. It's being done by a local custom paint shop. I like the smooth look. Is not done yet, but here's a pic from last Wed.

Looking good. I think I got the answer to one of my questions on the thread to repair the roof, use Evercoat Fiber Tech.

My top had some major repairs done and then smoothed and painted. Turned out nice. Here is a pic check out my build thread to see before and after pics.

Re: Smoothing blazer roof for paint

I smoothed a top for a customer years ago, it was a lot of work as there are pinholes in the fiberglas so the whole top has to be skimmed with filler. The guy wanted the inside smoothed as well then painted to match, a lot of work but it made the cover of a mag. (not sure which one). They only showed one small pic with the top on. I only have one Polaroid pic. but the Blaze was Sublime Green with graphics, typical 90's paint scheme with Colorado Custom 18's before big wheels were in.
