front seats for 72 Blazer

About to get started on a 72 project Blazer. Has good rear seat but front seats are gone. I'm not necessarily committed to exact originals. Interested in hearing from anybody that's "been there-done that." What works and what didn't work? What about the next generation of Blazers - 83 to . . . ? There's more of those sitting in tree rows and old junkyards.
tks - jerry

Re: front seats for 72 Blazer

My Blazer had a next-gen bucket on the passenger side when I bought it. It wasn't a very good fit; the seat hit the windshield when it was tilted forward.

I put in a 60/40 split bench from a 98 Silverado extended cab in it. The 98 didn't have the second door, so the seat slides and tilts with a single lever. It's a pretty good fit.

Since my seat is getting worn now, I've been looking at other options. I've been thinking about a second-row seat from a Suburban. The seat folds and flips up, which would give me a lot of room for entry to the back seat.

Of course, when the top is off it really doesn't matter too much.

Re: front seats for 72 Blazer

I put in seats from a 01 Silverado. Managed to find a set that were manual which was nice so I didn't have to run wiring for them. I am in the process of putting in seats I bought from a Tahoe third row for the rears. I have pics of them both on my thread here -

Re: front seats for 72 Blazer

Thanks for the quick responses. Certainly gives me something to go on. I meant to say "73" and later instead of "83" and later. Only proofed it half a dozen times and still missed it. me bad

Post 23 is where I installed the seats, You will need the stock seat brackets and modify them, but it was really easy. I used 73-up seat brackets.

Re: front seats for 72 Blazer

i really wished i would've gone with the interior of a newer chevy with the flip down console. But i really like the buckets out of the AUDI I put in mine.
