dipstick question - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I have a Lokar dipstick on my 5.3 Vortec and it read correct with the original oil pan. I just installed a CTS-V oil pan and with the 6 qt oil fill it barely touches the bottom of the dipstick. Anyone else have this problem and a solution?

At the risk of being captain obvious; a longer dipstick.

As Captain Obvious said, you need a longer dipstick. Oilpans have specific dipsticks, they're different length, you need the one that matches your pan. Since you have a Lokar, You'll need a new stick.

A longer dipstick yes, but I am looking for a Lokar application or part number. I will be contacting Lokar to see what they have to say.

You'll probably just have to tell them you need one about an inch longer than the one you have.

I called Lokar this morning and discussed my issue. They are sending me a dipstick for a LS-1 and told me that it will probably have to be shortened to match the correct oil level. If any of you have this issue the cable dipstick alone is $9.95 and available direct from Lokar.
