It is easiest to make a new layer and then paint the color on that layer. you can then adjust the opacity and set the layer as either a color, multiply, screen, etc to get the desired color. You can also create a hue/saturation adjustment layer with a mask for the area you want to color. Then in the hue/saturation pallet, check the colorize box. Adjust the hue & saturation until you get the desired effect.

It sounds like Blaz-air's new product is going to be the best thing to hit the custom car scene in a while. I know he is getting close to a release date & it sounds much more simple than photoslop.

Another method is to make a new layer with the sections you want painted, paint that layer solid with the color you want. Change thelayer setting to either overlay or color, then set the opacity to 62% (this is the best setting for realism for ANY overlay). This is a quick and simple way to change colors.

Another way is to select the aera that you want painted and just use the Hue/saturation method to change the color. This way you don't mess with any of the lighting effects with different layer styles. It is the simplest and easiest way to change the color. However if your picture is not very good it will have a bunch of 'bothches' in the paint.

Whatever you do, be sure to 'de-select' things like window, chrome, headlights, grilles, and things that should be black.

Photoshop is fun to playwith, it is amazing how much you can teach yourself with just trying crazy stuff.

Have fun...
