Rear View Mirror
Ive seen a ton of post about 72 rear view mirrors glued to the windshield. But my 72 has the mirror mounted to the roof at the top of the windshield and the metal looks like it was made to be mounted there? Anyone know what up with this? Thanks

Re: Rear View Mirror
That's not the inside of a '72 cab. Could it have been changed by the PO?

Re: Rear View Mirror
I dont know what differences there is in the cabs. I can take a picture of anything in the cab and post on here for you to check if theres a difference in it than a 72. I would really like to know whats up with the cab.

Re: Rear View Mirror
71's were the only year with the mirror mount like yours. Posssibly built at yr. model change.

Re: Rear View Mirror
That is the 71 only style. What plant and serial number do you have? Is the blue door sticker intact? Are the data plate rivets original?

This is one way to know if you have a 72 unless they changed the doors lol Posted via Mobile Device Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Rear View Mirror
The passenger door is like that but drivers isnt. The plates are all in tact and the numbers match everywhere. I was planning on changing drivers door to a actual 72 but that's a different story.

Re: Rear View Mirror
If it is because of the end of year change, isn't that falsely advertising it to be a real 72? I would call GM and demand they replace it with a new 72 truck they got stashed somewhere!!

Re: Rear View Mirror
My 72 had the mirror mounted on the cab as well. I removed it and went with a mirror mount instead.

Re: Rear View Mirror
The drivers door is different from the passenger but yet under the red it's the factory blue as everything else on the truck.

Re: Rear View Mirror
The driver's door should have a blue sticker with the VIN and build month/year. The driver lock pillar should have a metal plate with the VIN and rivets with scalloped heads. The glove box door should have a SPID with both a VIN and a model number. These VIN numbers should match your title and both the frame number locations. The reason I wanted the numbers (serial and plant) in addition to the build month/year is to see how this matches up with other trucks. I track variations.

Re: Rear View Mirror
Couldn't find any numbers. Although it's pitch black here. Might have missed them. I'm gonna take off some paint on my drivers door tomorrow and make sure its blue under it other places. Probably gonna start the patina look tomorrow.
