new project maybe
Ok guys i need some help! im thinking of pulling the trigger on this one for $1000.00 its three quarter ton with a sm420 and divorced transfer case also has a 350 engine supposed to run and drive.I noticed its missing the heater fan and box under the hood are they hard to find? also is it worth the money?I have several 67-72 trucks but i dont now anything about the 60-66 trucks except they are cool as crap.Any input would be appreciated.

Re: new project maybe
I would definitely look at the cab rust and determine how extensive they are. The hole on the driver side under the windshield is from a factory spotlight that has been removed. The heater and components can be found in either the deluxe version (in the engine bay) and the economy (inside the cab). Check the bottoms of the lip of the hood all the way around, bottoms of fenders, doors, cab corners, supports, floor pans, etc...to see how bad the rust is. The cabs aren't too bad to work on until you get into the door pillars, and any parts around the windshield. The floor pans and lower cab sheet metal is available, but is all foreign made and cheaply done. Other than a choke cable & knob, a seat cover and some mirrors, it loks to be complete from the pics. Nice looking truck and the price is a little high, but also changes by demograpics. If its solid and you like it, I say go for it. Some of those 4 speeds had a pto also. Being a GMC, would have had the big block v6 originally. GMC guys can help you more on the drivetrain than I can.

Re: new project maybe
looks decent from the pics for an NC truck. We run into the same issues here in the sandhills (im just southwest of Fayetteville) from the salt and rain. It also depends on how your going to use it...work truck, restore, show...etc. Like the 67-72's, the parts are out there and this site is a great place to find them and the info/tech you need.

Re: new project maybe
What can be seen of the sheet metal looks very nice, but rust or the lack of it is what really sets price on these trucks. The dogleg on the driver side looks particularly scary. I’d want to confirm if that’s just cracked paint, or cracked metal. The grille looks immaculate, and someone cared enough about the truck to turn the bumper upside down.
If there is a corresponding hole in the inner panel the hole below the windshield may be from a spotlight, but it’s forward a couple of inches for the factory bracket and there aren’t any smaller holes for the screws that normally hold the bracket to the cab. It may have served some other purpose, which may or may not matter to you.
