Kinda doubt I'll win this but I'll play lol
2000 Z71 5.3 Not bad for a 13 year old truck.

Re: lets play the mileage game
Wow! My truck is a baby compared to yours and that's on an 05??? Wow! Mine is a 2000 with 142,000. Other than oil changes I've had to swap the 4wd dash swith, fix the "tow/haul" mode in shifter (wires typically break inside of shifter, easy fix) and my washer pump hose cracked (cheap fix but was a pain to remove/reinstall). Love these trucks.

Re: lets play the mileage game
Oh, dang. Haha. I must've mis-read it. You've got that many miles on an untouched gas motor?

Re: lets play the mileage game
I'll have to edit with a pic when I get home- but I recently bought a 01 Sub Z71, 309K on the clock, and the engine stopped holding oil pressure at idle...(JUST swapped in a 88K mile 5.3).
So the original 5.3 made it to 309K, don't know if the trans has been overhauled. I'd be suprised if it hasn't, but then again it has a travelling preachers truck...so who knows. Everything else is original, 'cept the wheels. Not for long though. 6" lift and 35's going on it this week.

Re: lets play the mileage game
My 2000 suburban with a 5.3 has almost 305,000 miles and still has the original transmission. Original motor made it to 280,000 miles before giving up. Love the vortec motors. I got into a minor argument the other day with a ford guy who was talking up his 98 f-150. Those 5.4 triton motors are a joke compared to a 5.3 vortec. At least the vortec doesnt blow plugs out the head and its reliable and easy to work on. Well its easier to work on than a triton anyway.

Re: lets play the mileage game
1992 Geo Metro.
436,000 miles on the original unopened engine and transmission. 1.0L 3cyl. Still gets 52 MPG. Sold by GM, not a truck though, and wrong year. Completely serious. It's my DD. |

Re: lets play the mileage game
Im sorry I just have a question.Im thinking about getting a 99-06 Tahoe or suburban as a family vehicle. Is there any engines/trans combos I should stay away from?Any thing I should know about them?I have thought about getting a dodge or Chrysler suv but seeing these numbers kind of impressed me.
