Re: rear axel
Hello,
There is several threads about this, I googled it and found this, http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=456299 I have my 62 c10 axles redrilled because it isnt so easy to find 5 lug axles to put in. I payed $140 for both axles.

Re: rear axel
I just did this conversion, I ordered my axles from Summit's eBay site for $270.00 with free shipping. I also changed the ring and pinion which I ordered from RMS Drivetrain. You would need drums w/the 5 lug pattern if you go this route. Summits part number is MSR-A3065GMT5, these are Moser axles. If you don't change the anything but axles it's a breeze just pull the c clips remove and put in the new ones.

Re: rear axel
I had mine redrilled as well, they will also have to turn the center hub down so the brake drums for 5 lugs will fit. here is a link to a picture::::

Re: rear axel
The 70-72 axle will bolt right in to your truck...only thing is it is 1.5 inches wider. On my truck it was more work because 62 axles have different perch-track arm spots.welded new ones on and bolted it in,and swapped the front crossmember from same parts truck with disc brakes. The reason i didn't just drill my axle shafts was i wanted a better gear ratio and the newer style axle.
