Door Rubbing Issues

I have a 67 truck and my doors were pretty rusted so i got another set of doors off another truck. They had to have a little rust repair in the corners. When i tried to put them on them on tough they are rubbing on the front of the rocker panel and hitting at the top. Am i just not adjusting them right or could they be bigger than the originals?

Re: Door Rubbing Issues

First off do you have a factory service manual?
Has the cab had rocker work performed on it?
I'd try the door in the opening (heavilly taped) with the hinge pillar bolts loose enough that the door can slide fore/aft/up/down. Might be best to start with the door "out" (a little proud) on the door half of the hinges where the in/out adjustment is done.

Re: Door Rubbing Issues

Try cardboard shims at six points and fit the door without hinges.

Re: Door Rubbing Issues

It sounds like the door may be to far forward. How is the gap at the rear?

I would try exactly what Tim suggested and leave the door just loose enough to move it around and see what you get. You should be able to find a happy place. How did the original 67 doors fit? If they are both GM doors, there is no dimensional change between years.

Re: Door Rubbing Issues

The 67 fit right and the The gap in the back is pretty tight there was a bigger gap in the front.
