Hello all

I found this forum when I was looking for the best way to finish the new oak bedwood I'm putting in my truck when it's repainted (found some great info). Now I'm spending an inordinate amount of time looking at everyone's projects!
Now I'm looking for a way to protect the bed wood. Truck doesn't fit in the garage, so will be parked under a 90% shade cover. Some elements will get to it.
Any suggestions/pictures of nice tonneau covers?
I did a search on the site, and didn't find anything...

The first one appears that it would be mounted to a frame and hinged at the front of the bed.

a buddy of mine on this forum had one on his 71 GMC 4x4, it was a really nice cover. Who sells just a soft button down cover for these boxes? I've been trying to hunt one down

Agreed, just wasn't sure how the frame installs on the bed. It says it's done without drilling holes. I have a similar cover on my "regular" truck (Dodge Ram), but it's a fleetside, so you can mount the frame for the cover on the lip of the bed.

Any upolstry shop could make a snap on tonneu type but UV kills them pretty fast. Gaylord etc have nice ones but big $. When I get to that point I am going to design an aluminum frame and make one to fit inside the rails and flush with the top.

Great minds think alike OrrieG I be doing mine in aluminum with a 1/8" skin then covering it with vinyl top meterial.

Any decent upholstery shop can make you one. That way you get what you want and the cover dosen't have fold lines it it for months!

Use marine vinal thet will last a long time. my jeep top is 20years old and in perfect shape.

Be ready to pull out your wallet at the upholstery shop! I got a couple quotes and they all started out at $400 plus!! Maybe I'm going to the wrong shops????

I went with the soft cover. Pulled the trigger today. I almost went with the Gaylord's, but decided to save a lot of $ and get the vinyl cover. Now to get a new seat.....

I bought this cover, and it is installed. 2 pics attached. Pretty cool, although the shocks are barely strong enough to keep it open. A whisper of wind will bring it back down. Looking into that now.
