A/C condenser help?

i've searched, can't find what i need. i'm running factory 72 a/c with a serpentine belt set up from a 95 chevy. i've got the 95 a/c compressor. i need to know which a/c condesor to run. i'm thinking about using the es12a refrigerant. what if i use 134? do i use the cross flow from a newer truck? from what i've read on the es12a, it seems i could use the 72 condensor. what do you think?

Re: A/C condenser help?

50mercfan I'm a refrigeration mech and have used es12a and 414a in classic cars in the past and the factory condenser will work fine. The c/10's have a bigger condenser than most classic cars.Es12a runs a lower head pressure than 134a.

Re: A/C condenser help?

there's a few companies out there that make a fitting for the compressor that you then have your hoses crimped to,I think classic auto air and a couple others. The fittings on the condenser and evaporator just use standard oring type fittings that they sell in most streed rod parts books.I like the es12a the pressures are all most dead on to old r12.the poa valve will be fine.Did the new compressor come with oil?

Re: A/C condenser help?

The switch on the compressor is a pressure blow off.Does the fitting on the old compressor look like it will work on the new compressor. The new compressor probally has one it just looks different.

Re: A/C condenser help?

i don't know if it has oil in it. i hope so, i've had it running and kicked the compressor on and off getting the clutch wire hooked up and running. should i add some before i start charging? what kind, pag#? sounds like if i use the es12a, i can use all the factory stuff and just get the hoses made up to fit the new style compressor? there is a local a/c shop that make hoses i was hoping they could make something up for me.

Re: A/C condenser help?

you can use ester (r12 oil) or synthetic(134a oil) .When you bought the compressor it has a tag in the box saying if it was dry.To be safe you have to pull off compressor and drain it.Then get oil specs on compressor and pour correct amount of oil into back of compressor. Was the ac system taken apart and flushed out you don't want to mix two different kinds of oil!

Re: A/C condenser help?

the a/c system has been apart for a while. got it from a buddy that wanted to use vintage are because he did like the look of the factory a/c. will pulling a vaccum be enough to clean it out?

the wheels i bought off of craigslist. they are weld racing. can't find them any where. contacted weld and they said they don't know what the are either. said they must have made them one off for someone. they are dual bolt pattern 5x5 and 5x4.75, thats wierd. they are 10's and 8's, both have 5 1/2" back spacing. had to used 1" spacers on the front. everyone seems to like them, but, i'm not 100 percent sold on them.

i used the nasson line from ppg. the color is from their hot hues collection. luckily they could mix that color in the cheaper line. yes, i sprayed the white first. this is the first time i've painted a vehicle. two toning it a pain in the a$$. i had no idea, lots of masking.

Re: A/C condenser help?

here's where i started. decent solid old truck i bought to drive to work, i was going to scuff it down and repaint it blue and used as a daily driver. my buddy was helping me strip it down to paint and he says "you know, those window gaskets are only $35 apiece. we should take the windows out" i said "good idea". well, two years later this is where i am. this pic is after i lowered it and made the scoop. it was sitting up stock and had 10" boyds all the way around with a 90's tweed interior. it was a nice piece in the 90's.
