Side mirrors.
The truck I bought has no side mirrors. I hate not having them as I have noticed how much I miss having them.
I was wondering if anyone had suggestions for mirrors from a modern car that could fit our doors. Tried to post a pic of the truck so you know the style. Thanks. |

Re: Side mirrors.
Your truck came stock with the best looking mirrors of all the years IMHO. They are the same as stock on a '69, so that's what I put on. You can buy them at Brothers

Re: Side mirrors.
Thanks. I don't think those work with the smoothed out look of this truck. Are those the nicest looking stock mirrors for these trucks? yes, but not for a custom like mine.

Re: Side mirrors.
Dont put modern mirrors on it. I had them on mine and threw them in the trash. They were Camaro or Firebird mirrors painted blue to match the truck. I installed the proper 1969 round chrome mirrors and they look soooooo good!

Re: Side mirrors.
recommend 71/72 sport mirrors. smallest, sleekest stock mirror you can install.

Re: Side mirrors.
The round head car mirrors from the 60s look good on truck. Its more in keeping with a smaller mirror than the "sport mirrors". The round head gives it sort of a stockish look too. They even come with bowties on them if you want. Every Camaro/Impala/Nova parts supplier has a version.

I forgot to mention Cal-vu mirrors but i wasn't able to get any info on exactly what year and model pickup people were using. I have the one peice windows so there was a place in the corner for me to install the ones i bought from street rod headquarters.

Re: Side mirrors.
in hindsight - considering how custom your truck is - I think TimSS's mirror post is much more in line with what you might be looking for. Looks good. Personally, any body-matched painted mirrors on these trucks no lookie so good... but that's ONLY personal preference. In my pea brain, only a full-on custom can pull off a body color mirror - and yours might be able to make that work. Still, I like Tim's option the best of all so far for your particular style truck.

Re: Side mirrors.
Are the sport mirrors metal? Best place to buy a set?

Re: Side mirrors.
stock gm sport mirrors should be metal - I assumed that the repops were as well... but haven't personally bought any of the repops.

Re: Side mirrors.
I originally bought a set of the '71-'72 sport mirrors, and I think they look great, but I was told it was difficult to adjust the passenger mirror properly. I took those back and bought a set of '68-'69 Camaro mirrors. Haven't installed them yet but look great on our trucks also.

Re: Side mirrors.
x2 That's why I didn't buy plastic. At $60 for a pair, I would have been pretty disappointed if they were.
I got mine @ http://http://davestruckparts.net/ which is only a 30 minute drive from me. I agree mine are a little pricey, but it was a..I was there and he had them in stock..kinda thing

Re: Side mirrors.
I know this thread is old, but peeked into your cab and saw your bench seat and like it. Is it original?

Re: Side mirrors.
OK don't attack me hear fellas but I like the F**D mirrors from the 92-96 era here's a pic from a members custom camper/20. I didn't save his build thread. You can also see it on his website that's advertised on the softcap. www.campgroundveiws.com

Re: Side mirrors.
He's from SoCal, the land of government mandated drought. If he puts in grass the fines for watering it will bankrupt him before he can buy his mirrors! Nice truck, though.
