How to connect brake cable to new emergency brake?!?
I just installed a new emergency brake cable and assy. Everything is installed and fits like a glove... however there is way too much tension on the cable to attach at the assy. Any tips or tricks??
Thanks for the time. Weev-

Off the top of my head these are a few things i would check out, do you have the cable bolted to the inner fender, if so disconnect, that may give you a few inches. Do you have the adjuster nuts at the very end? How about the holes that the little curly cable guide though, are they in the correct holes in the frame?

The nuts are all the way on the end and even had the cable loose from the fender, still a few inches short... Feels really tight....

Did you convert from drum to disk? If no I would check the Length of the cable. I don't remember the stock cable Length but hope someone that does will chime in. If yes you will have to have made, inline tube will do this.

Re: How to connect brake cable to new emergency brake?!?
Disclaimer: I'm certainly no expert on this.
I can't tell for sure from the picture you posted, but the end of your cable that attaches under the dash does not look like the original on my 69 in the photo below. I think I read on this forum that the cable you need may vary depending on your transmission and/or trans. crossmember location. Also, some members have posted that their trucks with TH400s have 2 loops for the cable on the back side of crossmember. However, my 69 has only one in the center... and that's all it has ever had. I don't know if that changes anything though. Edit- Did you replace all the cables, or just the front? Do you have a LMC catalog? It has a good diagram of the installation.
