Gas smell
I've got a fairly recent problem with my Suburban that I can smell gas. It only seems to do it after the system has been recently pressurized. I can't seem to track it down by nose. Also there are no visible leaks. Anyone have any tips or tricks to use other than going over the lines inch by inch?

Re: Gas smell
2 easy things to check if you have no visible leaks;
Gas cap for proper valve & seal operation. Aftermarket caps,... really do suck. Use AC Delco. Vapor canister - remove the line that goes to the tank. If there is liquid gas there, the vac valve is bad and sucking gas out yer tank. The canister assy is officially shot. Replace canister and blow back thru the vent line to clear any liquid gas out. ( I'm betting on this one ) |

Re: Gas smell
assuming its fuel injected
it may be time for gaskets or injectors in your throttle body take the air cleaner off and turn the key on and take a look at the throttle body, the injectors will spray a prime(short shot fine mist) but that's it. you may see some seeping from the injectors as well. if that's the case try cleaning them or replace them

Re: Gas smell
I've found the return leaking and tracked it down to leaking sender @bend going in
can you look across the sender for vapors when running? Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Gas smell
Gas cap seems to be working well. I get 0 gas smell right at the cap. After checking after everytime I drive, the smell seems to be coming from somewhere in the rear. I recently put new carbon in the canister, and the vac line was checked. I thought this might have been the problem, but it wasn't.

I can try to look, but not sure how much I'll be able to see. I think I am going to just have to drop the tank itself and check it this weekend.
