1959 Chevy and GMC Truck stock colors. There was also a special Anniversery Gold that was limited to the Anniversery editions of the trucks, very few made, one per dealer in 1959.

On the large drivrrs jamb data plate there should be a box labeled "paint" with a 3 digit code. If it is blank the paint was special order or a municipal, military or fleet vehicle.

Re: 1959 GMC Stepside Light Green photos

Here is a link to the factory spec manual that lists the information on exterior and interior colors. Interiors were very limited.

http://chevy.oldcarmanualproject.com...to/59tld28.htm

If you scroll down on the page there is a link to the index, then you can start looking thru that, lots of good information. When you get the truck you will also want to get a Factory Assembly Manual, and if you are keeping it relatively stock, a Factory Service Manual with the 58-59 up dates.

Did you know statistically green cars sell for less than any other car through auction? Not bashing green. I like it. Just thought that was interesting when I learned.

Orrie, have you run across the color code for this anniversary gold? I've been thinking of gold paint lately and would be interested in seeing this one.

Re: 1959 GMC Stepside Light Green photos

So was it the GMC's 50th anniversary in 1959?

Chevrolet's 50th was in 1968 with a gold truck.

My 59 GMC started life green.....

And now it is Light Pewter......

Re: 1959 GMC Stepside Light Green photos

In the mid 80's a couple of guys started the body work on this truck. Brown primer and a bit of bondo smeared on the rear fenders...... not much of that truck survived when I had in repainted 10 years ago. The hood, left door, and the rear fenders/steps are still original. Buy the best truck you can, rust is very expensive! Hence why I bought the 68 above with factory paint.

Re: 1959 GMC Stepside Light Green photos

Are you planning to fix it up? If so then I would look for something different. It sounds way to gone to paint. What is your end goal?

Your buy in price may be cheap, but take the time to go through an online catalog and price fenders, doors and a bed. For less than the price of the parts you could be driving something like this.... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/s...d.php?t=771648

Does the truck you are looking for have front signal lights? They are hard to find and the last NOS set I saw on eBay went for $1,300.
