2500HD Wheel/Hub Cap Installation
Hey guys I've seen some pics of guys with the hubcaps on the rear of their 2500HD late model wheels. Mine won't fit over my rear axel all the way to the point I can't even bolt them on. What was the trick to get them to fit for the guys that put them on???

Re: 2500HD Wheel/Hub Cap Installation
The ones with caps on the rear most likely have the HO52 rear end that doesn't have as deep of hubs as the Dana 60 does. Your options would be a spacer behind the wheel or get some rear caps from a dually because they are deeper.

Re: 2500HD Wheel/Hub Cap Installation
With the axle hubs you have you are pretty much stuck. You can cut the center out like a 4X4 application and keep most of the effect.

You will most likely have the same problem with the dually caps as there is no hub sticking out of the late model real ends. |

Re: 2500HD Wheel/Hub Cap Installation
The rear dually caps on my 2006 have an O.D. somewhere between 8-3/8" and 8-1/2" (as I measure them mounted). They are way to big to fit properly on the alloy wheels from 2001-2006 even though the lug pattern is correct. Even the caps used on the 3/4 ton steel wheels of the same years are a bit too big. I'm not sure of the 2007 and up, but I think this is also true.

Re: 2500HD Wheel/Hub Cap Installation
The older caps fit right on, the newer ones do not.

Re: 2500HD Wheel/Hub Cap Installation
Yes I do. I like the new caps a lot better and still have a brand new set in my garage somewhere, but I'd rather have the older ones then none at all. I have the Dana 60 and the older style caps fit on.

Re: 2500HD Wheel/Hub Cap Installation
My truck came with those exact wheels, minus the caps. I spent far too much time searching for some caps that would fit, and not cost an arm and a leg. After constant badgering of forum members to look at getting different wheels, I finally but the bullet and looked in to it. Well, I was able to get nice steelies, caps, and paint for about $140, and then sold my old wheels like yours for $200. I'm so glad I did it. It looks better and drives better. Those wheels you have aren't offset correctly, so they're tucked inside the fenders and don't give it the wider stance the correct offset steelies would
On your truck, black steelies with chevy caps might even look nice. I went with white, due to the white top I'm so pleased with it. The guys in here were right Before After Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: 2500HD Wheel/Hub Cap Installation
That's a good idea too Mister B. Didn't think about going black because I like the chrome look. I might try the mid 90's caps first since they are fairly cheap compared to the later model ones. But I guess black steelies might look good if I keep the chrome caps with the blue emblem like you have!!
