Porter built hinge guys..? Hood spring

Have you guys had trouble getting your hood open? I'm thinking of fabing some sort of hood spring so it will pop up and I won't have to wedge my fingers between the grille and hood to open it.. Pics would be great

I had the same problem. I would release the hood and it would only pop up about 1/2" and I'd have to wedge my fingers between the hood and grille and lift it up. I replaced the old hood springs with new ones and now everything works very well.

Re: Porter built hinge guys..? Hood spring

A while back I messed around with adding a spring to the pivot post like some cars/trucks have but the hood wouldn't shut with it so I gave up.

You could add a spring to the top of the support or similar would work. Some 70's GM cars had that.

Make sure all the hood hinge pivot points are well lubed.... it might solve your problem.
