Installing 4x4 axles onto 65 frame

I have a 65 chevy swb and complete 72 K5 axles,,hangers, leaf springs. My question on my 65 frame where the radiator bracket is riveted to the frame, could I install the front spring hanger from the K5 in the same holes and use the K5 radiator bracket to mount my radiator.

Re: Installing 4x4 axles onto 65 frame

I've been looking at mine the same way. I don't have my hangers yet but if the new bracket keeps the front spring eye in the same location as the original and supports the radiator support the same as original, I don't see why not. My radiator support sits roughly 1-1/4 inches forward of the center of the spring eye. Where does the 72 hanger place everything?

Re: Installing 4x4 axles onto 65 frame

It was in the same position as my truck before i cut them from the 72,Also I measured the centerline on my truck it was 23.5 same as the 72,,the leaf spring is 47" half of that is 23.5 should bolt right in same spot. I was just interested if someone has done this before. I was told to get 72 hangers and they would bolt right in,thats the only place for the front hangers to bolt to.

if you look at Jon's installation like has been mentioned to you , you will see how it goes. you have to modify the rad support a bit

ron I look at the other build ,he used 89 4x4 hangers they are not the same as 72 hangers, the 72's are a good match only the cushion mounting holes are a little bigger.
