55-59 seat (mounts, etc) question

Hello

Are the seat mounts and mounting points (rails, mount to floor, etc) the same for 55-59?
I just bought a 59 seat, and wondering how much modifying will need to be done to install in my 55.
Hoping it's Plug-n-Play (not plug and pray!)

Thanks!
Mark

I'm having the seat shipped to me, so I won't have it for a week or so. I was just curious if it was going to be easy, or maybe not so much... thanks!

As long as its a 2nd series 55 it will fit, that is the Task Force series cab.

Re: 55-59 seat (mounts, etc) question

The seat mounted right up, no problems! I'll post pics soon. Truck has been taken to the paint shop. After 20+ years, it's going to be "finished" (well, never truly finished....)

Truck is in paint now also!

THAT'S a stock '55-'59 bench? If so you better "give" on how you did the drop down armrests, WITH pictures.

You don't drop a pearl like that around here and not explain. Lol.

Re: 55-59 seat (mounts, etc) question

It is actually a custom seat I bought on eBay. I'm not sure who made it. Sorry! No real details!

Re: 55-59 seat (mounts, etc) question

Have a link to that eBay seller?

Was this listed as fitting '55-'59 Chevy trucks or did you have to test fit it? Modify the mounts?

Re: 55-59 seat (mounts, etc) question

Dan's on the hunt like a blood hound now!!! Damn that's one fine looking seat. I've never seen an original bench that has been altered for an armrest like that before. Very cool!!

Yup!
Actually, I know I'll pull my seat to install the seat belts I just bought and "while I'm there" I'll get carried away with interior work then I'll be thinking, "I really oughta do something about this uglyass seat"

Re: 55-59 seat (mounts, etc) question

I've seen a guy that had heat and adjustable lumbar support installed into his factory bench seat. He wanted to retain the look but had a bad back so he had to make it work for him

Sorry - that is the actual seat I bought. I had it shipped to me (I had a trucking company I work with go to his house and pick it up), fixed the springs, etc, and had it reupholstered.
There has to be more of them out there!
