GMC Front Coils

Does anybody know if GMC used small block or big block front coil springs with the monster V6 (351E) in it? I have a sbc now and want to order up drop coils for the front, but am not sure which way to go.

Thanks

Re: GMC Front Coils

If your GMC came with the big v6 them yes it has the heavier springs. If it came with the inline 6 then it came with the lighter springs. My GMc had the inline 6 i put a 350 sbc in it and it was fine. Then when i did my disc brake swap from an 85 chevy i used its coil springs and cut one coil off to get the rack i wanted. You should be fine in ordering drop coils for a sbc if that is what you have in it now. Another option is drop spindles. The drop coils and cuting the coils does make for a little ruffer ride but not bad enough im goin to change anything. Plus by going drop spindles you can still use stock replacment shocks.
