Bell housing, for the 55-59 guys
I am usually on the other side, Al is my name (mostly go as CrazyL). At any rate , I picked up an early bell (v8, 1955). Cast #3704922, code date G 5 5). The pivot ball for the clutch fork is different than what I have seen in the 60's trucks/cars. It will bolt to the back of my 2000, 5.3 that is to be swapped into my 69....but can you guys educate me on where to find the pivot ball for the clutch fork (would like to run the cast truck fork, that takes a 3/4" diam. pivot ball . The threads in the bell , are 7/16 NF. Any/all help is welcome Thanks,Al

Re: Bell housing, for the 55-59 guys
I thought all of the pivot balls had the same thread but different shank lengths for different applications.
A bit of hunting shows that there are a number of different ones out there that fit. This is supposed to be the original style. http://www.americanclassic.com/Googl...TH-32-1957.htm

Re: Bell housing, for the 55-59 guys
That pic shows what I have in my 60-70's trucks....it screws in from the back of the bell. This 55 bell, has the pivot screwed in from the front? Take a look at the # cth 31, on the same page. Its listed for the 6 cyl engines , but the bell is a v8 pc....maybe 55 only (265)? I can have the bell machined/tapped, for the other style....just hoping somebody ran into this issue for a cheap fix? Thanks for the look see crazyL
