I have a 58 chevy shortbed and im currently looking to put a five speed in it. has anyone done this? where is the best place i can get one? any tips or pointers?

It's all my friends run, they're amazing transmissions. The 5 speed should bolt straight up to a 4 speed manual. I'm putting a 6 speed in my 57, they're basically bullet proof and they have many gearing patterns.

Blew up my motor last week, so decided to go all out and drop a 5 speed Tremec ( TKO-500) to replace my 4 speed Saginaw with the new crate engine. Bought the tranny & motor from Jegs, everywhere had the same price.

I had a TKO 600 in my old 91 fox body M#$tang. It was an awesome trans, you will not regret it. How would the shifter work out in our trucks with respect to it needing a longer shift shaft??

I'm getting ready to put a T5 from a Camaro in my 59. I got it off craigslist for $100. New clutch and flywheel was another $200. I'm going to post pics when I'm done. I think the biggest pain is going to be the driveshaft alterations.
