Good deal? need input....

Here is an 84 GMC i stumbled upon yesterday, that I may be interested in for my first truck. I know its basically a bare cab and chassis, but would 800-900 bucks be a good price for it w/out that boat anchor 6.2? Anyways, heres the link-

I recieved a few more pics, and the cab is beautiful!! minor rust spots on the rockers, smaller than a dime.

For your first truck I would look for something more complete and possiblbly driving.

This would be better

I would suggest the same thing to for your first truck, buy a complete running one. That way you can drive it plus get to know how to do a little work on it as well. The 6.2 was a good enough engine if used for lighter towing or just moving the truck itself around. They were never designed to pull like a Cummins....

Re: Good deal? need input....

Well i'm looking for a project, and this ones in my budget range and close enough to what i want. my dad has tons of parts and it wouldnt be too difficult to put it together. plus i have about a year before i get my license so I could work up enough money/parts to get it done.

Id go for it. Sounds like something that would be good as long you and your folks have the skill and tools to do the job. Not to mention a small chunk of cash. Just keep saving back cash.

Id tell him to keep all the other stuff and offer him 700 cash money in his hand if he wants more then that for a cab and chassis tell him to go pound sand...

Re: Good deal? need input....

for a K30 that's a good price, the front and rear axles alone are worth that

I'd buy the first one if you don't like the diesel its easy to put a small block in it.The plow truck i would pass on it its seen a lot of snow which means salt and rust.

yeah, plus it looks like a 2wd half ton, dont want one. I would definetly put a mild 350 in the truck with an SM465. I dont think locating a box is too difficult, the one we have is a little banged up from being set on the ground so many times and stuff hitting it. This truck would be an example of what not to do at 15-16. lol But its how ya learn i guess. I'd also change the front clip to a 79, make her real loud and paint it GM arrival blue or 2 tone red/white, with a 8in lift or so. cant choose on the paint, love them both. What would be the best trans/trans case combination with a mild 350 with offroad use?

Re: Good deal? need input....

Word of advice if you want a '79 front clip on that do your homework first... lots of stuff to change over my suggestion would be to keep looking for something more around the era your wanting or...

Id buy that second one that Warrens69GMC showed you it runs, drives, is a 4x4 looks complete, and its a '87 so Throttle body injection too...and you could sell that plow and the mount for what hes asking for the truck those plows out here are worth about 12-1500 bucks alone, so there is some more money to put back into the truck...

Re: Good deal? need input....

Just found out this truck only has a bill of sale, shouldnt be anything to worry about because my dad bought a 03 duramax last spring that only had a bill of sale and it took about 2 months for dmv to get a title.
