What got you interested in 67-72 model?
This is the truck that started it all for me. It was my dad's 69' k5. I used to go wheelin' with him in it all the time. I loved this truck, I always used to tell him that I was going to have one someday. He would always tell me to do good in school and someday it would be mine. He ended up selling it a few years later, and when I got my first 72' k5 in 1995 he would sit and tell me how he regreted ever selling it, but my mom was on him to get rid of it and get something more practical for the family (I guess things haven't changed that much). I found these pic's in some old things of my dad's. The date on the back is May,1978. So lets hear it, how did you get involved in collecting/restoring these classics?

Since I was 5 my dayd had owned approxamatly 6 of this body style Blazers and I grew up with them. They really stuck on me. My first vehicle at age 15 was a 72 Blazer. Wish I would have kept that one.

There was a guy in town that had a 72 GMC back when I was in high school , and every time I saw it, I wanted one of my own. So 5 years ago I found a 72 that was a little rough and drove it daily until I started on the tear down about 1 year ago. I'm hoping it will be done in about 1 month or so, thenthe cycle can start all over with some other young kid wanting one

A topless full size lifted truck! Ya just can't beat it. I originally wanted a '73-75 K5, but when I discovered the first gen's, I was hooked. Now, I want more...

For me, it was just seeing the nice lines and later finding how good they were built and how easy to repair/improve.

A few years ago at a gas station, a black '71 pulled up beside me about an inch off the ground. I haven't been the same since.

I remember when my dad got back from Viet Nam, I was 7 years old, I rode with him when he bought his brand new 71 chevy truck, I still remember the windows down, and I was making faces in the side mirrors.... we still had the old 65 "rambler" as moms car,, hince my screen name rambler He kept that truck till I was 25, and then sold it, before I knew what was going on,, I found a 72 at a auction, and it is still in repair stage,, He also inherited a 67 chevy 3/4 ton, which I just bought from him, it hasnt run for years, and was his "wood" truck, meaning cutting firewood and fenceposts,, when he retired from the army,,, well his eyesight isnt like it use to be,, so its got lots of scrapes and dents,, but still was "dads" so I'll be fixing that one up,, needs engine and lots of stuff,,, thats my story,, oh yes,, I also have the old 65 rambler and a 66 rambler as well, just need the $$$ and time to fix these all up.. someday

23 years ago I turned 14 and my dad owned a Chevy dealership gave me a choice of what to drive a 68 GMC or a F--D. I chose the 68 and loved the style ever since. I can't tell you how many I've had in my life time now.

For me it was a guy who lived down the street from me when I was in my early teens. It was a 1972 GMC 1500 Sierra Grande 2wd Painted Dark Brown and Orange (It was the 70's), I later found out that it was originally painted Light Blue and White but he owned a Construction Co. that had a fleet of Orange Trucks. He drove it year round up until the time I bought mine. Wish I could've saved that one...

My Dad got me hooked to! He had a 71 Blazer hunting wagon that I always liked. I learned to drive on the back roads in Kansas in it. Then he rolled it and I begged him to fix it up, which he did, and I've been in love ever since. He sold it soon after its completion and I thought I would never forgive him. Then one day while driving for my official drivers ed. I saw a beautiful red and white 71 Cheyenne, I did a double take and MY DAD WAS DRIVING IT! (he had just got it the day before) He soon got a company car so I got to borrow the truck when ever I wanted. He ended up giving it to me for my 18th b-day. It was my first true love! That was 15 years ago, and she's in my garage now in the process of being restored!

my dad bought his truck from the Navy back in 72, (3 years before I was born). It was his work truck ever since. I bought an s10 of my own a couple years back and caught the sport truck bug. He was gonna sell the c10 and I decided to keep it and fix it. (Because my parents divorced, this is kinda like therapy for me.)

This is what started it for me: my dad's '67 C10 he bought brand new in Indiana. It had a 283 in it with a standard 3spd shifter on the column, and a wood bed.
It was in perfect condition, and I begged to have it when I was old enough to drive. My dad promised it to me, and then one day in the early '80s he sold it without warning for $1000. When I flipped out he tried to go buy it back, but the guy who bought it told him to take a flying leap. I was forced to watch that truck for the next 8 years turn into a piece of crap gravel hauler. The guy who bought it lived in town, and would even taunted me with it (he knew the history once my dad tried to buy it back). Pretty cruel. Sad. I swore when I was older and had money I'd get me one. This picture was taken in 1970.

Here's another: from 1968 before it moved from Indiana to California, and finally Seattle.

Cobalt, my dad bought a 67 new also...283 3 on the tree!! Jet black with red interior! The die was cast! I washed and waxed that truck so often, he made me stop cause he said I was gonna wear the paint off!! Damn that black truck shined....sadly the salt took it's toll in short order, and he gave it to my bother in law, who cobbled it together, painted it ,and sold it! I had a 72 CST out of Texas 15 years ago with factory A/C PS PB tach dash, and buckets. Beautiful truck!!! I sold it to buy a semi, and be an ITO. Lots of day's I wish I still had the 72 instead!!! Been an ITO ever since. But, I'm back, and with a vengence...One more trip to Randy's, and then start building!! Taking my plain jane GMC 4x4, and puttin a Chev front on with a 396, factory air dash, PS disc brake front , PB, all tinted glass, wood floor box, and a 4 in. shackle reverse kit.

I must admit....my 1st true love in a pickup was a 52 Chev my dad bought from my aunt. My first truck was a 78 Chev step...because I thought it had "CHARACTER". It was ripped off Labor Day weekend...1983. Was like loosing a member of the family. Well, in '91...I found the 76 Chev I have now...which I passed on to my oldest son. I remember his eyes at age 5 when I'd 'romp' on it...He'd say "BIGFOOT Daddy!!!*....*was the truck he knew*. I'd always like the 67/72s...but never actually pursued one...until the 70 GMC came available for $600...my youngest son loved 'hotrods'...and the thought of this truck ...well..he just smiled...and said FINE wif ME!!! To make a long story short...Ive always loved Chev stepsides....but I never felt an ADDICTION to em...until I bought the 70. Maybe this is MY chance to do something with my sons...something we can do TOGETHER!!! Believe me...one day you hold em in ya hands....and the next day....they talking bout moving out on their own.
