heater core

Hello Chevy truck enthusiasts. What is the real deal with heater cores? I've seen engine bays with and without them. Some ppl use them, others delete them or leave it unconnected. How does effect performance, heating and cooling. I know I'll get everyones debate. I want to delete mine an clean up the engine bay. Thanks in advance. Clark.

Re: heater core

living in iowa, i dont intend to drive mine in the winter, but if i delete the heater, that also deletes my ability to drive it in the spring or fall also... or if i get caught in a rain storm unless i want to wipe the fog off the inside of the windows...

Re: heater core

Some trucks that appear to have deleted it entirely might be running an under dash vintage air/old air unit instead.

It doesn't really have any effect on performance. As far as heating, unless you install an aftermarket heater, you won't have any without your heater core. If your cooling system is working correctly, meaning correct flow of both coolant and air, it won't really have any effect on cooling, either.

It's really just a matter of style for those who live in areas where it's not needed or who only drive their truck in fair weather. I wouldn't be able to drive my truck at least six months of the year without it.
